WEDDING LOOK
So much of what we decide to wear on any given day – and especially when living in England – is dependent on the weather. And an English autumn can be a particularly tricky passage of time in this regard – because you never know whether to expect an early winter, or a Brazilian summer as we go through September and October. So my advice to you ladies is to keep things as flexible as possible and set aside a few key items in your wardrobe that will see you through whatever the weather – and in style! See below few tips for the autumn wedding look.
Weddings at this time of year present a particularly tricky problem when it comes to looking the part – i.e. appearing as effortlessly elegant as possible – while still feeling comfortable in the outdoors as the temperature drops during the course of a day.
All that said, lace has been playing a prominent part amongst the trends for this season, and is very much something that I would recommend as part of your outfit for an autumnal wedding.
Firstly though, I would like to tell you a short story about lace and the “high neck” so you know the history of what you are wearing today and why.
Did you know that the collar was one of the first fashion statements in the Elizabethan era in the late 1500’s? The collars that we wear today have evolved since then over the past 500 years and more – and have gone from the very first and rather plain versions into the jewelled, leather and metal pieces you see in glossy magazines and blogs today.
Lace always adds a dash of class to an outfit – and whether it be a collar, cap, or shawl made of lace – it has become something of a staple in women’s wardrobes since being introduced to northern Europe in the 17th century.
Anyway, following that little history lesson, here are a few of Fernanda’s tips for you to follow:
I have gone for the outfit in the picture below that brings together sophistication, allure and a little splash of colour that still fits in with the season. It’s also comfortable enough to keep you warm at this time of the year.
Pair it with a clutch bag (I have chosen Michael Kors) which enhances the outfit – and you’re good to go for the autumn wedding look!
And last but not least, I have finished off the look off with these sleek black heels from Gianmarco Lorenzzi! Perfect!
And in the other pictures below are a few more pieces to get you thinking of how you can look drop dead gorgeous if you have a wedding coming up in the next few weeks – and without upstaging the bride of course. (or maybe just a little!)
